The objective of our company
YOUR REQUIREMENTS – OUR CHALLENGE
Our goal is to develop adhesive systems for cellulosic materials (i.e. wood processing products) which are not only formaldehyde-free, but contain only natural ingredients.
This new generation of adhesives not only fulfill all legal guidelines on the production of cellulose-containing materials and the guidelines on work environment protection, environmental protection and protection against emissions, but it will also complement these guidelines by eliminating the release of toxic substances in the manufacture of such products.
Thus, our selection of all components from which our resins and adhesives are made up focused naturally on the areas of renewable and natural resources, without excluding the possibility of proportional use of strictly defined recycled materials and harmless natural waste from various industries.
An important issue was to achieve the lowest possible environmental impact during the production of these adhesives, i.e. The setting of the so-called “ecological footprint* “.
Considering the amount of cellulose-based materials produced around the world and the resulting amount of glue used, we wanted as far as possible in the production process, to limit ourselves to energy-saving solutions, such as simple mixing of ingredients, which results in very low CO2 emissions throughout the entire production chain.
The extremely short pressing time and the high speed of the production cycle, typical for high-performance equipment used in the wood-based materials industry, are a particular challenge for the project. The new adhesive system must therefore, in contrast to the previously known ecological formulas, exhibit reactivity comparable to that of the UF/MUF resins established on the market to meet the crucial condition of profitability of the production of wood-based materials.
In this way, you can calculate the per capita number of global land and sea hectares needed to regenerate the consumed goods and absorb waste. According to the WWF report, the average person currently consumes regenerative potential of not one but nearly two Earths.
After about 4 years of work, we have managed to develop a thermo-coupling, polar-condensing hydroaldehyde resin which fully meets the above requirements.
Our concept is economically very interesting for the wood-based materials industry, whose plants need large amounts of adhesives every day. It allows customers to mix their own adhesive systems according to the needs of a specific application and to purchase the materials needed for this purpose individually.
Another important and economically significant advantage of our project is the fact that it does not require, as it is currently the case, transporting large quantities of water in the form of a “glue solvent” to the production facility. According to our project, only solids or concentrates are transported, which are then appropriately combined on site according to the formula of the SESTEC Group.
* ecological footprint measures the human demand for natural resources of the biosphere, and then compares this consumption with the planet’s ability to regenerate it.
